Take our team for instance (Sweet Shop), we help out Triad Dragons & Floorbangers bring the people so that they can focus on presenting all of you party go-ers with the best event that people will talk about forever, well, at least until the next party is thrown.
What one of our jobs are, is Step One, is to use our social networking sites such as facebook, instagram, twitter, etc. to spread the word online about every little update about the event, whether it be DJ & line up announcements, special deals, or ticket sales. It takes a lot though still to promote online. Whats promoting going to help if you don't have a lot of friends or maintain your online popularity. I find it very helpful to talk to my facebook friends here and there and drop them a simple "hello" or "thanks for the add be sure to check in for some fun upcoming events" or send you friends invites from the event page you are promoting. So promoting isn't JUST copy, paste, tag, & share.
Another side to our promotion is the street team. This is another essential part of the team and is important for bringing in the crowd. Not everyone will catch your few posts online or not even have quick access to the internet for that matter. Thats why flyers are very important & when it is staring someone in the face on a pole or stuck under your windshield wiper, the person viewing it looks at it for a few extra seconds then they would by scrolling over it with in some kind of feed with a million other posts. Myself and my other captain are always trying to find ways to make promoting more interactive and fun like going with the whole team while you grab lunch and post fliers, or giving away a piece of kandi or any freebie with a flier just to set ourselves apart from the typical promo team. With out our fliers and posters everyone's rave wall would look very naked and empty so see how it plays into promoting?
Promoting isnt limited to just for rave events, but helping out our awesome denver nightlife clubs and venues bring in people as well. Collecting names can be very tricky but once you have a decent online following, collecting names will be cake. It can be achieved by either word of mouth, like convincing your friends and there friends to all party together at the club and telling them bring whoever you like I can hook you guys up with a spot on the guestlist. Theres also your social networks there to help you as well by posting specials going on at the club or major artists who are performing, also making people think you are planning on attending whether you are or arnt and simply saying "im in need of a dance partner who's coming?" Saying generic sayings like this grabs they're attention more then hey send me your names. Without us to send in names to the clubs, the clubs wouldn't be as good of a party, basically clubs wont admit it but they need us.
Each of these types play a role in the promoting and spreading the word about Colorado's amazing nightlife and parties. What are the benefits of promoting these shows you ask? Having your part in the event for one. Whether it seems like it or not you are able to say you have a small part in the party. My most favorite thing is when people from your following of online friends comes up to me and thanks me for the invite or them complimenting the event.
The point of this whole blog entry is not to recruit anyone but mainly let you know that we as promoters or "rave slaves" as some my call it, really have a big part in these events and would be as packed and filled with fun loving people without us spreading the love and word for the event.Promoting as a team verses individual promos makes you look more legit and reliable when it comes to dedicated team fans, who would you rather trust to get your names on the list a random kid or a team who all work together to get the job done? Reliable fans is key for consistent guest list names and word of mouth about the team its self. So enjoy and think twice before denying that flier outside of the venue after a rave is over with because even taking one is spreading the word, supporting the wonderful events and thanking Triad Dragons & Floorbangers and rave & party it up at they're next event!
